This article describes the Master User feature in the RetailForce Portal. This feature allows users at the distributor level to automatically grant them access to all subordinate distributors.
Basics
A Master User is a user who is granted extended permissions on any distributor. These extended permissions result in:
- The user is automatically assigned to all subordinate distributors (recursively) .
- The user cannot be removed from subordinate distributors – removal is only possible on the distributor where the Master User permission was originally granted.
- If the user is removed from this distributor or the Master User permission is revoked, the user is automatically removed from all subordinate distributors .
Note: The Master User permission can be assigned to any distributor. The “source distributor” for a specific Master User is the distributor on which the Master User permission was originally assigned. The permission is recursively passed on from there to all subordinate distributors.
Permission Inheritance
A Master User’s permissions are inherited from the root distributor to all subordinate distributors. On subordinate distributors, the permissions can optionally be adjusted. If no explicit permissions are stored on a subordinate distributor, the permissions of the parent distributor apply (hierarchically upward to the root distributor).
Note: Permissions must always be explicitly set on the source distributor. Read access must be guaranteed at all times.
Inviting a Master User
To invite a new user as a Master User, proceed as follows:
Step 1: In the main menu (left), select the “Distributor” level.
Step 2: Select the desired distributor.
Step 3: In the Actions menu (on the right), click “Invite”.
Step 4: In the invitation window, enter the email address of the new user.
Step 5: Check the box "Invite user as master user for this distributor and all underlying distributors".
Step 6: Clicking the “Invite” button sends the invitation
Note: The Master User checkbox is visible only to the following users:
- RetailForce users
- Users who already have Master User rights on the relevant distributor
Display of Master Users in the User Overview
The “Active Users” table at the distributor level displays a user's Master User status. It distinguishes between the following user types:
Standard User – User without extended rights.
Inherited Master User – Users with extended rights that originate from a higher-level distributor. The user was automatically assigned through hierarchy inheritance.
Direct Master User – Users to whom the extended rights were assigned directly on this distributor. This distributor is the starting point for this user’s Master User access.
Removing Master Users
A Master User can only be removed on the distributor where the permission was originally granted. Removal is not possible on subordinate distributors.
When a Master User is removed from the source distributor, the user is automatically removed from all subordinate distributors.
Note: On subordinate distributors, the “Delete” button is not displayed or is disabled for inherited Master Users to prevent accidental operations.
