If the validity period of your signature creation device's certificate is nearing its end, you should prepare to replace the signature creation device.
However, there may be other reasons for replacing the signature creation device, e.g.
- Change of provider – if you plan to switch from one manufacturer to another
- The digital certificate on which the signature creation device is based has been revoked
- or other reasons.
Note: Signature creation devices from a-trust are always purchased for a period of 5 years. This means that you must replace your signature creation device every 5 years.
Preparation for replacement of signature creation device
To prepare for the certificate exchange, you must first purchase a new signature creation device from one of the supported providers (currently a-trust or PrimeSign).
Once you have received the new certificate data, follow the steps in the next section.
Replace in configuration
To switch from an existing signature creation device to a new one:
- Open the RetailForce portal and navigate to the configuration (menu item “Configuration”) in which the signature creation device to be replaced is entered.
- Open the ‘Details’ of the configuration and click on “Edit” to edit the configuration object.
- Correct the entries in the fields
- Sign device configuration
- Caption - if you want to assign a new name (optional)
- Sign device driver - if you want to configure a new signature creation device from another manufacturer
- Parameters
- according to the certificate data provided by the manufacturer. For more information, see the article Configuration Austria.
- Sign device configuration
- Save the changes by clicking on “Save.”
Example of signature creation device configuration:
Note: Once you have made the changes in the configuration object, all NEW terminals to which the configuration is assigned will also use the new signature creation device..
After you have entered the new data in the configuration, you can perform the exchange at the respective cash registers (clients).
Registration in FinanzOnline
In order for the certificate to be used at the cash registers (clients), it must first be registered in FinanzOnline.
Unlike the initial setup, where the certificate is automatically registered in FinanzOnline when the first cash register is put into operation, the new exchange certificate must be registered via the RetailForce portal.
To do this, select the configuration that you changed in the previous step and click on the action item “Change Certificate.”
Confirm the following steps.
Once completed, the certificate has been successfully registered in FinanzOnline.
Attention: Registration can only be completed successfully if the correct FinanzOnline access data is stored in the relevant configuration. See: Users for cash register web service.
Update configuration
To ensure that all cash registers can use the new signature creation device, the configuration must be updated on all relevant cash registers (clients).
To do this, use the endpoint PUT /api/v1/management/clients/byCloud/{clientId}.
The call must be executed by every client that is to use the new signature creation device.
