A cash register can be decommissioned in several ways. This article describes how to deactivate / decommission a cash register (terminal) via the RetailForce portal.
Deactivation can also be carried out via:
- the Cloud API function provided for this purpose (POST /api/v1.0/masterdata/terminals/{terminalId}/archive) and
- via the POST /api/v1/management/clients/decommission function of the middleware.
A client (or the cloud terminal) should be decommissioned regularly via the middleware (recommended method). If this is no longer possible, deactivation can be carried out via the RetailForce Cloud, or alternatively via the Cloud API - these two methods are ultimately identical, as the portal is basically just a graphical user interface (GUI) of the Cloud API.
As a rule, a terminal is only deactivated in the cloud if the client no longer exists in the middleware (hardware defect, etc.) and can no longer be deactivated in the normal way.
Please note
Attention:
- When deactivating via the cloud (portal or cloud API), it must be ensured that any country-specific regulations for decommissioning a cash register (e.g. generation and verification of a final receipt in Austria) have been carried out beforehand!
- If a terminal is deactivated in the RetailForce Cloud and the corresponding client still exists in the middleware, the cloud system will refuse to accept any data from the client (no archiving of data received after deactivation)
- When deactivating the terminal in the cloud, any connected technical security devices (TSE/TSS), signature creation devices, etc. remain unaffected by the deactivation! These must be decommissioned separately.
Deactivation
A terminal is decommissioned via the "Archive" Action Item "Archive" in the Terminals menu.
To access the menu, the terminal to be deactivated must be selected. The Actions menu shown below then appears:
After clicking "Archive", a confirmation prompt appears:
After confirming by clicking on "Yes", for security reasons
- the store number,
- the cash register number (Terminal number) must be entered and
- the entry confirmed with "Archive".
This deactivates (archives) the terminal. No more data is received from the client.
The terminal disappears from the active view and is only visible if the "Show archived terminals" checkbox is activated.
