The certified technical security device (TSE) used in Germany within the framework of the KassenSichV is equipped with special electronic certificates which affect the time of operation of the TSE.
For example, the validity period for swissbit hardware TSEs is as follows:
- produktive TSE: 5 years
- test TSE: 6 months
This means that a productive TSE from swissbit can be used for 5 years at a checkout, whereas test TSEs can only be used for 6 months during the development process.
The shortened certificate period for development TSEs is a requirement of the Federal Office for Information Security. TSEs that can be used productively do not differ from test/development TSEs, but they cannot be reset to delivery status in the same way as test TSEs.
Read out certificate expiration date
The certificate expiration date - and thus for how long the TSE can be used - can be read out via the RetailForce Fiscal Middleware and is displayed as part of the TSE status information.
This is done via the following method:
- GET /api/v1/management/germany/tse
The response contains the following line, in which the date on which the certificate expires is displayed.
...
"certificateExpirationDate":"2025-01-01",
...
