This article explains terms used in the context of Lithuanian fiscalisation and defined, for example, in Law VA-40.
Data transmission module
The data transmission module (also "data transfer module") is a component of the cash register that ensures secure communication between the cash register and the security module (see "Security module") and with the iEKA system (see "iEKA"), as well as managing private and public keys and certificates.
RetailForce's fiscalisation middleware provides the data transfer module for Lithuania.
Reports
The Lithuanian Fiscalisation Law (VA-40) describes a series of reports. Cash registers must be able to generate these reports.
Report (X) - daily interim report
This is a report which can be generated at any time during the day. It summarises the sales and other fiscal data since the last report (Z) (see "Report (Z)") on a cumulative basis. Unlike Report (Z), Report (X) does NOT close the current day or shift.
This report is represented by the document type ("documentType") "[98] = CashCheck".
Report (Z) - daily fiscal report
This is a report which is generated at the end of the day or shift. It summarises the sales and other fiscal data of the current day (or shift) on a cumulative basis. Report (Z) closes the current day or shift ("end-of-day report").
This report is represented by the document type ("documentType") "[99] = EndOfDay".
Detailed fiscal report
A report that details the fiscal/tax data for several days or shifts. The report contains the fiscal data from the reports (Z) for the specified period.
Summary fiscal report
A report similar to the detailed fiscal report, but in the summary fiscal report, the data from the reports (Z) for the specified period is totalled and summarised.
Electronic control tape (EKJ)
EKJ describes a digital representation of the "second receipt/paper roll" which was once common in cash registers. In other words, it is a (digital) copy of issued documents. Every cash register must have an EKJ. The data stored in this way should correspond to the printed documents.
Fiscal operation
Also "fiscal document", refers to an economic transaction that affects the total counters (sales counter, tax counter). This is in contrast to a "non-fiscal transaction". Fiscal transactions are signed via the security module and transmitted to iEKA.
A document of type ("documentType") "[0] = Receipt" represents a fiscal transaction.
An overview of the different transaction types can be found in the article Mapping Lithuania.
iEKA
iEKA refers to the Lithuanian tax administration's online system. Cash registers must transmit data on receipts and other documents to the iEKA system. The data transmission function is handled by the data transmission module (RetailForce Fiscal Middleware).
Non-fiscal operation
Also "non-fiscal document", refers to a transaction that does not affect the total counters (sales counter, tax counter). These are usually administrative documents and other transactions. Unlike fiscal transactions, data from non-fiscal transactions is only transmitted to iEKA and is not signed via the security module.
An overview of the different transaction types can be found in the article Mapping Lithuania.
Service Company
Service companies are companies certified by the Lithuanian State Tax Inspectorate that are authorised to commission cash registers. Similarly, certain repair and maintenance work may only be carried out by a service company.
Service Company Parameter
For each cash register, the service company must define certain parameters that ensure the interaction of the individual components of Lithuanian fiscalisation. Some of these "service company parameters" are specified by the Lithuanian tax authorities, while others are determined by the service company.
Security module
The security module is a (hardware) component of the cash register that performs electronic document signing and cryptographic operations, as well as managing private and public keys and certificates in a secure environment. Within the RetailForce system, "security modules" always refer to hardware components. The virtual security module provided by the Lithuanian tax authorities does not fall under the term "security module" but is summarised under the term "virtual fiscalisation".
Virtual fiscalisation
A service provided by the Lithuanian tax authorities. This service combines a (virtual) security module and a (virtual) data transmission module and is integrated with the iEKA system. Virtual fiscalisation is suitable for cash registers with only a few transactions per day (small businesses).
